(More customer reviews)We bought the filter at the recommendation of our allergist. We bought it for our bedroom to try to cope with my nighttime nasal stuffiness. We had already removed the rug. After owning it a year, we haven't seen any dust accumulation on the inner stage 2 filter.
On the other hand, our central air/heat filter--where we've installed a top of the line filter--may be taking all the work away from junior, so I can't say for sure whether the fault lies with the filter.
In other words, it may be that if you've already put a quality inline filter in the central system, this portable filter is redundant.
I'm now investigating a humidifier (my son swears by it), and I've started using a neti pot (nasal saline rinse from what looks like a little tea pot). Neither of these were on the allergist's recommended environmental steps to take list. My recommendation: try these two things first.

Refrigerator Air Ionizer XJ-100 Review

(More customer reviews)The photo here is misleading. This is a generic ionizer, not an Oreck. It is a copy-cat. It seems to work alright, but if you are expecting a genuine Oreck, that is not what you will receive.
And as a side note, after I submitted this review, the seller changed the photo to reflect a non-Oreck model.

I've had problems previously with ordering this machine (from a different seller), because I had orderd the Healthmate Junior Plus, but received the basic Healthmate Junior. It's buyer beware with these air purifiers, because Austin Air, the manufacturer, doesn't put the "Plus" on the machine. So I had to call Austin Air with the serial number to check, and that's how I found out I received the wrong item. Amazon and the other seller were great about taking the machine back. Now I chose this seller and am very pleased to have received the right air purifier. Austin Air purifiers have a good reputation and I see them at the offices of several of my doctors so I believe I'm in good company ordering them. This one is going into my child's bedroom.

Additionally, these filters fit some Honeywell air cleaners. Some of the Kenmore air purifier model numbers this filter belongs to are listed on the filter's box with a "42" before it making it a 7-digit model number, while people on the internet frequently list 5-digit model numbers. I've listed ALL possible variations of model number so you can be sure this filter fits yours: Kenmore Air Cleaners 83225, 83153, 83252, 32810, 4283225 / 35, 4283225/35, Sears #35, 4283153, 4283252, and 4232810; and Honeywell Air Cleaner Model 51000, 83160, 51000/4283160.
This filter will fit any air cleaner listed above.

Guardian Technologies FLT-4000 Replacement Filters Review

(More customer reviews)Overpriced? Maybe, maybe not. It depends on what you expect it to do. It works well in small rooms that do not have tons of dust, smoke, or mold. And it is quiet at least on the low speed.
But I've found it cheaper ($10 less per replacement filter) at a local Target store.

(More customer reviews)This item was broken when I received it. It was poorly packaged and when I did unpack it, had it not been broken it still was not in the condition the seller listed it. It was dirty inside and had a missing plate. The power cord was pushed through the filter in the back. All in all, I would have sent the machine back anyway. Also received the price of the machine back but did not get a refund on shipping or having to ship it back. Ended up out $34 and with no product.

(More customer reviews)The shipping from Amazon.com (product purchased from Witbecks and fulfilled by Amazon.com) was fast, the filters were packed well and factory sealed by IQAir.
I feel that the IQAir HEPA filters saved my life. Had chronic bronchitis in 2008 that would not go away. The doctor that released me from the hospital suggested that I get a HEPA filter (said that a Sharper Image type air filter would make me worse due to the ozone it creates). Searched on line and found the IQAir and all of the great reviews, bought two (1 for each level of our townhouse) and love them. I can tell as soon as I walk into the house the difference that they make. This is the second set of pre-filters I've replaced, the HEPA filters are still going strong. If you have asthma (which is what i have) or bad allergies, I would highly recommend an IQAir HEPA filter and you can't go wrong with Amazon.com and their great service!

Honeywell HRF-14 Pure HEPA Permanent Replacement Filter Review

(More customer reviews)I got 2 of these to use with my Hooneywell enviracaire 11520 the other day and they work great! It is awesome since they're less than 1/2 the price of the 21500 (and the 22500 I was using this for the 17400), so though I was buying the 2 HRF-14s to replace one 21500 HEPA filter, I still saved about 10 bucks!
HRF-14 is Honeywell's new Universal replacement true HEPA filter. The box contains one true HEPA fileter and one foam gasket (I just throw this away since it isn't needed for the 11520). The chart on the insert indicates that it fits the following models of air purifiers (number of filters required follows model number): 11520 (2), 12520 (2), 13520 (3), 17200 (2), 18159 (2), 17400 (2), 50150 (2), 50200 (2), 50250 (3), 50300 (4), 50310 (4). Some of these setups also use the included foam gaskets to pad the filters to the right size, (but you never need more gaskets than filters so you don't need to worry about that when purchasing).
Useage is really easy. you stack them up, putting the gasket(s) on top as needed, wrap them with the prefilters just as you do with the old filters. Then you close up the air purifier and are breathing clean air once again!
Replacement policy is the same as it was for the non-universal filters... The HEPA filter should remain effective 3-5 years for light usage, 2-3 years for normal and 1 year for heavy usage.

ANDREA: Plant-based Air Purifier (White) Review

(More customer reviews)just set up our first ANDREA with an Aloe Vera plant inside and am loving it... the fresh greenhouse-like smell that comes out (especially when you first turn it on) is great and it looks perfect in the corner of our front room. there's an adjustable fan and you can turn on the light for a super sci-fi effect at night - which makes it look like something out of "Sunshine". right now we're moving it around the house every few days - might buy a dedicated one just for the bedroom. only complaint is that it's not *quite* quiet enough to leave on next to your bed while you sleep, but then i'm a pretty light sleeper!

However, do not buy this product online unless it cost less or equal to the price of Home Depot Stores. Home Depot has this product for a couple of dollars. Some vendors are selling this product for $1.99 + $7.00 shipping and handling. Even when you pay taxes on it is still much cheaper than getting through amazon. This price is outrageous for a low quality product. Just make sure you go to your local Home Depot Store and find it in the air filter section. You'll save a lot more money.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this about half a year ago, and while it does seem to work somewhat (I can tell from dust in the filter.) The noise level increases greatly with age. It was never anything close to whisper quiet, but now it is about half the sound decibels of a running lawnmower. While I could tolerate it enough to turn it on when I was out of my room, it is now loud enough that people living in the dorm next to me can here it throughout the day. In addition to this, the effectiveness of it is dying as it gets louder. I am generally pleased with the things I buy from Amazon based on the reviews, and so despite at least six years of membership (in one way or another) this is the first review I have written. Before this I never had reason enough to warn other consumers.

(More customer reviews)I bought this product because of allergies. When I first got the product, it worked well and did the job. Once it needed to be cleaned, (in about 3 months), it didn't even come close to the way it worked when I first got it. I followed all the steps for cleaning the system. Nothing was damaged in cleaning as I was making sure not to damage anything. I put it back together and set it up again. It is running, but it is definately NOT working like it used to. So, I get 3 good months out of it. 300+ bucks down the drain. Warranty? Don't make me laugh. Oh, it has one. Just try using it. You'll shell out more money to them for fixing it. I liked this product at first, but now to me it's garbage and a waste of money. Look elsewhere for a air filter. I don't recomend this product at all. I don't care what the other reviews say. I only know my expierence with this product. Buy if you want to take a chance. I took a chance and I don't like the outcome. I can't even give this thing away, as nobody I know even wants it for free.
